Beginnings of the Internet
As early as the 1950s, some networks already operated that allowed communications among units within their own networks. But these networks had limited reach and scope. Eventually, the USA Department of Defense developed a network of networks that was supported by technological advances that allowed networks to interconnect and communicate with each other. Eventually, the internet was opened up to the rest of the world, with wide usage for commerce.
